“I’ve been everything from a size 8 to a size 28 over the years and at no point have I ever actually been happy with my body and I didn’t realise that until I started working with Alicia. From the first couple of times speaking to Alicia I felt her approach was different to anything I had tried before.
I couldn’t see my reflection without feeling disgusted about the way I looked. I was binge eating and then purging and mentally punishing myself for this. I’ve gone from being that person who hated her reflection to now, I won’t say loving, but really accepting my body and how it is and what it looks like. I am doing more exercise I’m healthier, I feel more confident. In the past I was so focused on weight and a number on the scales but weight loss is now just a positive consequence of being healthy.
It’s January and I’m now very very aware of how everybody talks so negatively about body image, in the office everybody’s talking about how much weight they have put on and which slimming club they are joining. Adverts everywhere for meal prep and diet plans and it’s just such a huge amount of pressure to comply and join in. The work I have done with Alicia means that I don’t feel the pressure to be part of that. I know what my body needs. I know what plan works best for me to be healthy and confident, the pace at which I need to work at and I know how to be kind to myself. Getting a little bit emotional writing this, Alicia has helped me so, so much, I would absolutely recommend her she’s fab.”

“Working with Alicia has had a profound impact on my life. When I first started having 1 to 1 sessions with Alicia, I struggled with a complex relationship with food and regularly binged. I often turned to it for comfort, using it to cope with stress and emotions. This cycle I was living in had a significant impact on my physical and mental head space, and I often felt ashamed of my body. Working with Alicia has been the best decision I ever made. Through her compassionate and insightful approach, I have learned to develop a healthier relationship with food.
I have also learned to set healthy boundaries and finally make my mental head space a priority, preventing myself from turning to food for comfort or to cope with overwhelming emotions. “I started working with Alicia after I needed to lose weight for a health related issue, but I found myself in a rut of starting a calorie controlled diet every Monday, and then by Thursday hating counting calories, stopping it and and saying the all too familiar “start again Monday”. I felt trapped between having to diet and hating to diet, and that’s when I spoke to Alicia.
Alicia helped me to notice subtle ways my thinking, beliefs and actions were influenced by food rules, diet culture and the binge-restrict methods. I really had never noticed this before and how these views influenced fed into the cycle I felt stuck in.
Given my health issue, Alicia was great at holding my weight loss goal as something I had to work towards, but she helped me to reshape this towards a goal of health - learning how to eat more nourishing foods, to understand and change my eating habits, and to focus on health broadly beyond just calorie counting.
Since this, I have felt free from the “traps” of the diet world, that I never even knew had a hold on me and my behaviours. I have been less stuck in the binge-restrict cycle and able to make healthier choices because I want to, not because I need to.”
